The main performer of the National University’s ball is VENNASKOND

There can never be too much dancing and laughter. We look forward to celebrating the beginning of higher education in Estonian on 1 December 2025!

The traditional ball of the National University takes place at the Vanemuine Concert Hall, of which the doors are open to visitors from 18:00. The party starts at 19:30. During the evening, you can let yourself be captured against the photo wall and in the photo box. Of course, there will be no shortage of surprises at the ball either.

In addition, you can take part in a raffle, and the proceeds from ticket sales will, for the first time ever, support the University of Tartu Seventh Pillar Fund, which will award two scholarships to outstanding students in the spring. The prize pool is worth 500 euros, and a raffle ticket costs 5 euros. Each ticket directly supports student well-being.

Entertainment programme:

Music is going to be played by the Tartu University Symphony Orchestra (TÜSO)! Composed of talented students and alumni of Tartu’s universities, TÜSO brings timeless charm to the ball with classic dance music that’s sure to get your feet moving.

On the stage there is going to be the Eller Big Band (EBB)–the biggest and brightest ensemble in the Heino Eller Music College's Department of Pop-Jazz Music!

The ball will feature a brilliant performance by the folk dancers of the Folk Dance Ensemble of Tartu University! Their dance fills the room with vibrant energy, while their elegant steps bring a true sense of national pride and festive spirit to the evening.

The headliner of the evening is Estonia’s most legendary punk-romantic and poetic rock band, VENNASKOND!
With their unique energy, Vennaskond connects generations. On stage you’ll hear both timeless hits and the stage charisma that has shaped the face of Estonian alternative music for decades.

This year the theme of the ball is “The National University Ball a Century Ago – National Dignity in the Independent Estonia.”—an evening that brings the glitz, charm and elegance of a century ago to the hall.
