Until April 30, University of Tartu students can vote to elect the next student representatives. Voting takes place on the platform valimised.ut.ee, where each student can vote for one candidate in their institute and one candidate in their faculty. You can learn more about the candidates on the student representative candidates page.
According to Renar Kihho, President of the University of Tartu Student Union, every student’s vote counts. “Just like in local or parliamentary elections, every vote matters in the student representative elections as well! Your votes will determine the direction UTSU takes in the coming year and which topics will receive more attention,” Kihho said.
A total of 119 applications were submitted during the candidacy period. Candidates were required to answer three questions aimed at providing insight into their motivation and goals. All students of the University of Tartu who will continue their studies in the next academic year were eligible to run. Students could stand as candidates in the institute to which their curriculum belongs, as well as in the faculty that includes their home institute. It was possible to run simultaneously for both institute and faculty representative, or just for one of the two.
The election results will be announced on May 5 on the Student Union’s website. The mandate of the elected representatives begins on July 1, 2025 and lasts for one year.
