The work of the Student Union is coordinated by the Board and the Bureau. The Board consists of the Student Union Chairman and up to two Vice-Chairmen, who are elected by the Student Parliament for a two-year term. The Board's task is to represent the student body of the University of Tartu, implement the decisions of the Student Parliament, prepare the draft budget of the Student Union, prepare draft regulations and bills of the Student Parliament, and coordinate the activities of the student bodies.

In implementing its work, the Board is assisted by a Bureau, which includes a legal advisor, a political advisor, a development advisor, a marketing specialist, a communications specialist, an interpreter, and an office manager.

The President of the Student Union leads the work of the Student Union together with the Vice-Chairmen, is responsible for the implementation of the budget and assets, leads the work of the Student Parliament, conducts the elections of the Student Union and performs representative duties.

The Vice President of the Student Union area of study quality participates in university activities related to teaching and its development. She also organises and coordinates internal training and other events within UTSU, advises representatives mainly on issues related to teaching, participates in the attestation of professors, and ensures that all UTSU representatives have a good integration and that their work as representatives is smooth.

The Vice President of Student Union area of development organises and coordinates UTSU’s different internal trainings, other events and recognition of representatives. She is in constant communication with student unions of both Estonian and foreign universities. Manages the UTSU spirit and the ISC master work group, takes care of the development fund projects and cooperates with other organisations and the Enlight network.

The policy advisor takes part in the activities of the study quality work group, prepares reviews for student senators, conducts internal UTSU workshops, develops UTSU documents together with other bureau members, etc.

The communications specialist manages internal and external communications, is responsible for the website, prepares internal correspondence, leads the communications work group consisting of the faculty student bodies communications specialists and works closely with the central marketing and communications department of the University of Tartu.

The legal advisor ensures that all the work of the Student Union is legally correct, but also that the rights of students at the university are protected. The legal advisor can be contacted if you have any questions about the various rights and obligations of a student representative.

The development advisor is the right-hand man of the Vice-Chairman in the area of development, a member of the UTSU Spirit work group, and is responsible for booking Tiksula. In addition, the development advisor is one of the student representatives of the University of Tartu in the Enlight network.

The interpreter/foreign student coordinator handles various translations (mainly Estonian-English), ranging from website translation and various social media texts to simultaneous interpretation of meetings.

The office manager organises the student union's membership administration (including access, mailing lists). He also manages the student union's office, i.e.  Tõllakuur, UTSU’s general email, and organises computer rentals.
